52Martha watched her. %u201cYou are deadlier than the gators, Carla,%u201d she said. %u201cWe%u2019ll have to be wary of that after we%u2019ve sat out here at night drinking rum.%u201d%u201cDon%u2019t worry. I%u2019ll remind you until it becomes a habit to walk in a circle around it. It%u2019s in case they come in the early hours when we%u2019re asleep. The screams will wake us.%u201dThey sat outside that evening drinking rum. Carla had decided not to wear clothes again until the creatures on her body were strong enough to be put into the waters. It meant she could manage them better. She came to realise that as any one of them got hungry, they would crawl down her body between her legs and either push their way into her anus or vagina. She could feel one moving up inside her, crawling up into her bowel to feed on her poo stored there. She realised they would all need to do exactly that. The sensation of their movement made her happy and contented and the fact they needed her to survive made her feel worthy and mature. She could not imagine being without them and feared the day when she must let them go. It would seem like part of her was suddenly lost and missing. Maybe, she thought, she could keep one all the time like a pet inside her? %u201cWhat do you think happens when we die?%u201d Carla suddenly asked Martha out of the blue.%u201cI think you are just no longer here.
