69Dawn woke in the morning to find John was not in the bed. She was still cuddled into Caroline. She propped herself up one elbow and peered down at her closed eyes. She whispered, %u201cI have to get up now, darling, but I%u2019ll make sure you are tucked in and nice and warm. She put her hand on Caroline%u2019s chin and gently pulled it so her mouth opened, before sealing her mouth with her own and pushing her tongue into it to give her a deep and loving kiss. She broke the kiss and stroked the hair away from Caroline%u2019s face.%u201cWhen I get back from my appointment at the clinic, I%u2019ll get John to help me give you a nice warm bath, and I%u2019ll wash and dry your hair for you. I%u2019m going to look after you. No more cold drawers and nasty cold tables for you.%u201dShe got up and wondered if he had a shower. She found the bathroom and looked in. Yes. He did.Downstairs. John sat at the kitchen table. Plates, cups and saucers, were all laid out. Dawn came in. She was all dressed and ready to go. %u201cCan we pop by my flat either on the way there or on the way back to bring some things over if I%u2019m going to be living here for awhile.%u201cYes, of course.
